College Finances 101
College Finances 101
. . . As a Junior in High school I'm starting to think about college and where I want to go and what I want to do. Thinking of those things are fun for a teenager about to live on their own, but what isn't fun is not knowing how to use my money wisely without my parents. As a teenager I don't have to pay bills or pay for my car or doctors appointments etc. because I always rely on my parents for those needs. I have a part-time job that only allows me to pay for "extra activities" like eating out and buying new clothes, not for things I need. After going to this workshop I know that using my money wisely now can effect me big time in the future. I now know how much everything in college will cost me at the end of the year, how I can get money to help pay for my tuition through grants or scholarships, how I can calculate how much my savings now will affect my tuition in the future, and many more helpful tips. I highly recommend this workshop for any high 'schooler' looking to go to college.

"I thought that actually doing small scenarios to see how certain tools worked or how spending/saving money would affect me in the future.

"It was definitely helpful learning about the different college prices and how similar fields of service can have such different salaries. "
"I'm a freshman in high school while my sisters are 2 juniors. My parents are always talking to them about college and to me it's kind of confusing and stressful how I will pay for it and what I want to do, and I know it is for a lot of my friends too. This workshop helped put into perspective it's ok to not know what you want to do. The prices of different colleges and and how you can pay for it was helpful and I now know a lot more than I came in knowing which has definitely helped me figure out what I need to do for planning and finances."

"The value of this workshop far exceeds the time or cost to attend. Every high school student who is considering furthering their education, in any form (certification, trade school, 2 years, 4 years or more), should attend and the earlier the better (prior to senior year). Goudy Career Services, thank you!"
